FAQ
Do I need NFA engraving for a Form 1 firearm?
Yes. If you manufacture an NFA firearm using an approved ATF Form 1, federal regulations generally require you, as the maker, to permanently mark the firearm with your required identifying information. This typically includes your individual name or trust name, along with the city and state where the firearm was made. The markings must meet ATF requirements for depth, size, and permanence.
What firearms can you laser stipple?
We primarily perform laser frame stippling on Glock Gen 3, Gen 4, and Gen 5 pistols, along with many other compatible polymer-framed handguns such as the PSA Dagger. If your firearm is not listed, contact us and we'll let you know whether it is compatible with our laser engraving and stippling process.
Does laser stippling weaken the firearm frame?
When performed correctly, laser stippling removes only a controlled amount of material from the surface of the polymer to create texture. The process is designed to improve grip while maintaining the structural integrity of the frame. As with any permanent firearm modification, the work should be performed by someone with the proper equipment and experience.
Can I mail my firearm or frame for engraving or stippling?
Many engraving and polymer frame projects can be completed through our mail-in service. Depending on the project, you may only need to ship the serialized component, such as an AR-15 lower receiver or a handgun frame. Federal, state, and local laws vary, so if you're unsure what can legally be shipped, contact us before sending your firearm or component and we'll help determine the appropriate process.
How long does NFA engraving or laser stippling take?
Turnaround time depends on the complexity of the project and current workload. Simple NFA engraving is often completed quickly by appointment, while custom laser stippling packages typically require additional programming and finishing time. We'll provide an estimated turnaround when your project is scheduled. All services are completed and shipped out within a week of receipt and approval of artwork and placement.
